Rebecca joined Charney Lawyers as an associate in 2021. She has a diverse practice with an emphasis on class action, banking and commercial litigation. She routinely assists and appears as counsel on a variety of complex precedent-setting cases.
Before joining Charney Lawyers, Rebecca practiced in the area of creditors’ rights and commercial litigation at a mid-size Toronto law firm. There, she regularly appeared in Superior Court and litigated complex contractual disputes on behalf of Canada’s charter banks and major luxury automotive and equipment companies.
Rebecca articled at an international law firm in downtown Toronto with a focus on class action and commercial litigation. During her articling term, she supported her firm in its representation of Marvel Entertainment CEO Isaac Perlmutter in Perlmutter v. Smith, 2020 ONSC 2679, aff’d 151 O.R. 3d 185 (C.A.), a vigorously contested application involving complex cross-border legal issues.
While in law school, Rebecca summered at the Mergers and Monopolistic Practices Branch at the Competition Bureau. She also successfully represented an individual in an employment insurance benefits appeal before the Social Security Tribunal of Canada.
Prior to starting her legal career, Rebecca worked for two years as a journalist for digital and print publications in London, U.K.
Rebecca is fluent in French.
